This year the theme of our Black History Month is celebrating significant black women in world history. An area that has been indicated in our school improvement plan is attainment for our girls, particularly in maths. It is hoped that a focus on promoting success and highlighting women’s achievements will raise the confidence, aspirations and self-esteem of girls in school and make all pupils aware of the amazing contributions to world history that these women have made.

The skill we focussed on as a whole school approach was cause and effect. Each year group looked at a different significant black person who was carefully linked with the topics or needs of their cohort.
