One of the greatest gifts a child can have is the ability to perform or play a musical instrument.
This academic year we are continuing to provide pupils across the school with the opportunity to learn a musical instrument or join one of our performance clubs.
Pupils in KS2 i.e. Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 with the opportunity to develop skills in music and performance by including the following tuition in their curriculum studies:
Year 3 Half-class keyboard lessons
Year 4 Singing and inter-school choir competitions
Year 5 Cornet lessons
Year 6 Whole class Creative/Performing Arts and continuation Cornet lessons.
Pupils in Years 1 – 6 have the opportunity and encouragement to participate in the following subsidised musical instrument lessons in school:
- Drum and Guitar lessons – twenty minute peri tuition lessons provided by Mr John Bradford and Mr David Chatziliades respectively.
- Keyboard lessons and the development of the school orchestra with Mr Phillips
- Violin lessons taught by Mrs Kate Chruscicka.
Each Friday after school, Mr Chatziliades holds a Rock club which incorporates the fun and easy way of learning music, playing drums, guitars and other instruments. The Rock club achieves many of the National Curriculum goals for Music, and motivates children to learn and engage with other children whilst being creative and imaginative.
Idle Little Cherries offer fun based Childrens Drama and Musical Theatre to a group of up to forty of our pupils each week.
Mrs Bigger holds a Dance club each Wednesday lunch-time in the hall, and Miss Claire Wood from JB Sports holds a ‘Cheer-leading’ club each Friday lunchtime.
